W is for Woods Watcher

One last post before I get to bed. Done in some prisma markers.

M is for more color work!

Whoo! Slap some color on there. yeah.

T is for textures, WOOOO

OOoo, the colors. Pretty shiny colors.

B is for Bears everywhere!!

I love this guy, he's one of the two protagonists for my groups story. He's a pissed off bear who had been captured in the middle of his hibernation and the only thing he wants on God's green earth is some friggin' sleep ( much to the dismay of his counterpart who is, unlike Bear, rather concerned about their impending deaths at the hands of the mad Captain, Ed)

G is for "Guards!"

Another concept from my groups story in concept art class. This fellow here would be one of the villains invented minions, we thought it'd be cool if the robots were completely made of wood, much like the captain.

These guys are simply called "Guards", they're only purpose is to make it impossible for the protagonists to escape. They are never alone, traveling in a group of at least three and when they sit themselves down next to each other they create a formidable wall ( though with budget restraints, the captain couldn't afford to give them arms, much to his ever maddening frustration.) So while being somewhat threatening with their freaky-ass teeth, they only stall for time and spew hilariously ineffective insults while backup comes to do the real dirty work.

V is for variation

A darker, grittier version of my teams villain. The group decided that this version was a little to serious for the overall mood of our story and preferred with the more bipolar/ bumbling character posted previously. ( this guy looks like he'd eff you up for the hell of it and then feast on your face for dinner. Good call by the group.)

E is for ED

An expression sheet for the villain from my Concept Art class.

From top left to right:
1. "Is that a twinkie?"
2."Yes! I knew we had one left!"
3."What? It's just a really old hot dog?"
4."I HATE hotdogs."

F is for Figure Studies

Various figure studies from Saturday model sessions at the school, which happen to be awesome.

Wednesday, August 5

F is for final

My final for composition and imaging class a few terms ago. We had to recreate a master's work using printed reference to show we understood brushes, masking, opacity and other photoshop techniques. I used lots of grids to get the image as close to the original as possible, very fun project.

Tuesday, August 4

F is for "For the love of God, HUG ME!"

A crazy animated stuffed frog-man. He Just wants to be loved....Or to kill,I can't really tell.

Monday, August 3

F is for figure study

Sat in on a figure drawing session this weekend. It's super fun to go and hang out with some great teachers and friends while buffing up on anatomy.

E is for even more storyboards

Some quicker storyboards showing the Captain and his wooden man-servant/ unwilling partner in crime, Horatio. (read top to bottom)

S is for Storyboards

A couple storyboards from my concept art class, focusing on the villain.

O is for Office

An early marker study of the interior of the Captain's office.

P is for paranoia

The exterior of the Captain's room. The portraits on the wall are there to establish his egotistical personality as well as his paranoia ( the fish-eye downward shot along the same lines, unsettling overshadowing).

C is for Captain

The villain from my groups concept art class. His body is made entirely of wood and screws and the only part of him that remains human is his head. Victorian themed clothing and body.

M is for Mover

Another creature/ monster design from my concept art class. This creature would be the size of a whale and float only about five feet off the ground very slowly. It makes the sound of a extremely loud, low frequency horn blow with strong warble to it. Because of it's immense size and close proximity to the ground, they have a tendency to leave destruction in their wake, plowing through any obstacle. Besides the unmistakable path Mover's create, the heavy, fleshy tails that hang off their undersides leave the equivalent of a "foot print".

H is for Howler

A creature/ monster design created in my concept art class. It would be quick and agile like a gazelle, and when it ran wind would funnel through the holes in its head creating an eerie wail.

K is for Knight

I really enjoyed the feeling of the concept for this guy so I had to do a turnaround of him. Thank goodness for extra-wide sketchbooks, yay.

Thursday, September 18

U us for unusual

Another quick character concept. I just finished finals and have two days off before the next term.
Gotta get drawing before the homework piles on!!

A quick character concept, wanted to make a tough-guy.

M is for meanie face

Gah, you have no idea how annoying to not be able to pick up wi-fi even though your lazy-ass of a computer is perfectly capable of doing so. >:\ Thanks alot imac G5.....anyway, this is what i'm working on right now. More Painter practice....

Friday, May 23

C is for Hand Cube

My Dad's big, meaty paw holding a square candle. Just graphite pencil and mechanical pencil on sketchbook paper. Probably a couple hours on this one.

Saturday, May 17

I is for Ice Cream Sandwich

So, I would have updated this yesterday, which is when I enjoyed this fabulous treat. But, unfortunately my mother clipped our internet/cable line with hedge trimmers (oh Mom, you and your shenanigans).

Another funny/inconvenient incident happened earlier that day when I was watching a trailer of M. Night's new movie. Right as the TV roared "The Happening!!", all the power in my house went out. I thought this was a little overdramatic, even for Mr. Shyamalan. I'd hate to think every time that commercial rolls, major cities receive momentary black-outs.

Z is for Zomg Zombies

*My progress so far on my zombie mosquito monster character. The thing on his face will eventually be a drill head, with which he shall dominate.

Tuesday, May 6

W is for Woods Watcher

Creature/monster turnaround in currently working on ( along with a billion others. I'm up to my neck in monsters...and I love it!)

Sunday, May 4

P is for Piko

Beginnings of a character turnaround.

M is for MOthErs

The first three views of my boss monster concept art/turnaround. The other two angles couldn't fit in the scanner in one go and i'm too lazy right now to do another. ANyway, I'm in love with this monster, It was so damn fun to draw, I can't wait to finish classes so I can color this puppy up.

Thursday, January 31

L is for Lazy

It's a self portrait, kidding! Ah, it's a coach potato. What more can I say?

Wednesday, January 30

T is for Tales and Legends

Does it ever take you a while to realize something pivotal, then when you finally do you wonder how you could have possibly missed it?

Well, every once in a while people miss a crucial piece of information needed to move forward in life. These are epiphanies. Once dismissed and never registered by the individual they are to be lost forever.

That's where the Epiphany fairies come in handy. Their soul purpose is to find any and every epiphany not realized, run it through their database, and to deliver it to their corresponding owners.

Some times people take a while to realize something important and when you finally do, you get mad that it took that long. But remember all the work that goes into an epiphany!
